Restoration and Relaxation in Rocky River
This renovation project was quite the roller coaster ride with its many ups and downs, but after nearly two years it was completed in July of 2023. Sean’s client wanted to renovate the lower level and guest bathroom in his 100-year-old Tudor. They wanted a sophisticated lower level for entertaining their friends. Sean designed a new powder room, mudroom, living area, wet bar, library lounge area, and theater. The client wanted a clean, simple design, with cultivated eclectic touches. A Rosa marble fireplace façade was custom carved and imported from Italy. Furnishings include cozy boucles and plush velvets. It was refreshing to work with a client that understood the importance of lighting. They wanted the spaces to have the very best lighting design, so Sean added many custom lighting features, from LED railing lighting, to floating shelf lighting and sidestep lighting. Sean wanted the theater to be a cozy cuddle area, so he draped the walls and included an oversized sectional. The artwork and gallery wall in the theater is fully suspended from the ceiling and brings dimension to the space floating over the draped walls. The guest bath’s showstopper is the violet marble walls and floor. The back shower wall features a grooved carved marble tile that anchors the entire space. Though this bath is dedicated to being a guest bath, the client’s daughter uses it most. Sean selected an elegant and sophisticated gray for the scheme that had a hint of purple. The spaces come most alive at night, when the lighting can be truly appreciated and the intent of entertainment is enjoyed most.
